“Social distancing” is the hot phrase right now. Whether we’re choosing self-isolation or we’re being told to stay in our homes, it’s hard. I joke that I’ve been training for this my entire life – choosing to stay home when possible, but in all honesty, it’s been difficult. The term “social” in social distancing really affected me. Hearing it made me feel lonely, like we wouldn’t be interacting, so, I refer to it as “physical distancing.” Because six feet apart seems like a good "bubble" to have.
I never realized how much I like having the option of going out and seeing people and realized how much I take going into the office every day for granted. All day, every day, I see people, and now, no one except for my husband and dogs.
I will say, I do believe that this is some much-needed down time for us all. I didn’t realize how much I needed a “slow down period,” but now that it’s here, I’m going to utilize it and be productive. I have a laundry list of things that I need to get done before we move, but didn’t have time to get done, so I am going to start to tackle it.
It’s daunting to think about only spending time indoors, but now that spring has sprung, at least here in the South, we can all go outdoors…. six feet apart. However, on those not-so-nice days, here are some of my favorite ways to practice self-care and remain positive.
Create an at-home spa.
Set aside some time each day for some self-care.
Do an at-home facial.
Give yourself a manicure.
Light some candles.
Go for a walk – by yourself, with your spouse, or with your pet.
Start doing yoga/meditating.
Organize your closet.
Learn something new.
Set some new goals for yourself or re-evaluate the ones you already have.
Diffuse some essential oils.
Create a gratitude list.
Binge watch some Netflix shows.
Re-watch your favorite movies.
Do some online shopping.
Read a book (or two).
Create a new makeup routine.
Plan a day out for when this quarantine is over.
Let me know what you're doing to stay busy during this time!
