Love Without Borders

It’s no secret that I love YouTube videos. On my commute home from work (#TBT to when we were allowed to go in), I used that as my “decompressing” time and watched videos to de-stress from the day; my go-to? This Gathered Nest.

I have been an avid follower and viewer of This Gathered Nest and Angela Braniff for close to five years now [because that doesn’t sound creepy at all], and I’ve watched their family grow. Angie and her husband CR have two biological daughters, three adopted sons, and three adopted daughters – totaling eight kids, and you know what? They amaze me – they homeschool, work, and do the day-to-day, yet remain calm and collected.

On their YouTube channel, they cover adoption, “large family” topics, homeschooling, and so much more. Even though we don’t have kids yet, I feel like I can still relate to them – they’re just good, family-focused, down-to-earth people.

Enough of my raving about the videos, let’s get down to the meat and potatoes of this post.

Angie announced that she was going to be writing a book and I was just plain excited. Everyone who knows me knows I love a good book, so a book about a family I adore – yes PLEASE. I was fortunate enough to be a part of Angie’s Book Launch Team, so I was able to get early access to it and let me tell y’all, I couldn’t put it down.

While my husband played X-Box, I curled up in my blanket and reclined the couch like an old woman and wouldn’t you know, two hours later, I found myself at the end. As I turned each page, I laughed and I cried. I felt all of the highs and the lows that the Braniff family felt during their adoption processes. The way Angie described all of the events of her life really took me along for the journey and made me feel all of the emotions that she felt. I loved how faith-forward it was. My biggest takeaway was to live with an open heart and an open mind, because you don’t know what God’s plan for you is, we just have to accept what is to come. A true testament that God is in control. I’ve always lived by the motto, “Let go and let God,” and this book was the epitome of just that.

Thank you, Angie, for letting us in your heart with this wonderful book.
