When I was in middle school, I had oily, awful skin and would break out all over my face. Frankly, I was embarrassed. It was when I realized that concealer and foundation would hide everything that I started really getting into makeup. If I did a full face of makeup, I would look like a completely different version of myself, and have the confidence I lacked.
As I got older and my face cleared up, I didn’t need to plaster it with concealer and foundation anymore, but there was something always so fun about [let’s be honest] basically painting your face. It’s a creative outlet – you can create whatever look you wanted…and that’s when my makeup obsession began. I started testing out any and all new makeup products, quickly finding my “staples.” This was comprised of my absolute-favorite-cannot-live-without products. But, all great things must come to an end and I started having some not-so-fun reactions to some products. That’s when I made the switch to safer beauty.
At first, I wasn’t so sure about making the switch; I loved my current products and loved the looks I could create with them – would I be able to find some clean swaps? The answer was a resounding yes. Not only do I love my new, clean products more than I can put into words, but honestly, they smell better and not like chemicals.
I figured it would be fun to share some of my old makeup favorites and the “clean dupes” Beautycounter offers that perform just as well, if not better, than my old favorites!
If you’ve liked this post, let me know! I would love to share more clean swaps!
Note: Some of my old favorites are, in fact, slightly cheaper than the Beautycounter alternatives. This is due to clean brands being limited to the ingredients they can use to maintain a high-performing product.
