We all have New Year's Resolutions. Whether it’s to go to the gym, eat healthier, get organized, or read more, we all make those silent promises to ourselves, but how often do we keep them? For myself, I make it through January and that’s it. The next thing I know, it’s December again and I make the same resolutions, only to have them last for a month.
This year, I’m making a resolution and sticking with it.
In 2019, I learned the hard way how truly bad for us our skin care and makeup is. I switched makeup brands earlier this year and suffered from terrible migraines, which I hadn’t prior. After drinking more water, reducing stress, and eating healthier, nothing was working, so I stopped wearing my new makeup in a last-ditch attempt. Wouldn’t you know that it did the trick; within a week of going makeup-free, my migraines were gone and I felt like myself again. I remembered my mother-in-law telling me about her favorite makeup, Beautycounter, which was safe and had clean ingredients, so I ordered some and once I realized how amazing and high-quality they are, I became a Consultant to help spread the word.
My 2020 Resolution is to continue to spread the mission of Beautycounter because if you just think we’re selling lipstick, you’re not paying attention. Our mission is to change the Beauty Industry because the Food and Drug Administration (which is the agency that regulates cosmetics in the United States) doesn’t have the authority to remove the harmful ingredients from the products we put on our bodies every day. That’s why Beautycounter has the Never List. This list of over 1,500 harmful (or potentially harmful) chemicals will NEVER be included in our products.
Our skin is our largest organ – these harmful chemicals get absorbed into our bloodstream with 26 seconds. I’ve timed it, that’s just enough time to sing the ABCs. Go ahead, I know you’re going to time it – I’ll wait. Do you really want all of these toxins being absorbed into your skin? I think most of us are guilty of just putting on lotions, perfumes, body wash, and makeup and not thinking about how they are absorbed into our bloodstream.
I’ve done countless hours of research on these issues and they are REAL. The chemicals in skin care and makeup can lead to infertility, asthma, hormone imbalance, kidney and liver defects, and skin dryness – and those are just a few of them. I realize that there are also other factors that lead to these, but if I can do one thing to minimize my chances, I will.
That’s why my goal for 2020 is to help you and your families make the switch to cleaner, safer products – whether it is skin care, makeup, or even household cleaners. I want to help you all live safer lives. I want to get safer products in the hands of everyone. I would love to help you, so please send me a message, I’d love to set up some time to talk with you about the products you’re currently using and how you can make the switch.
